This practical school toolkit is designed to help Kindness FIRST campaign champions turn values into visible action across school life. In this toolkit, FIRST stands for Fairness, Integration, Respect, Safety, and Trust.
It provides clear guidance, ready-to-use tools, and simple activities that help champions strengthen belonging, inclusion, wellbeing, respectful relationships, and a culture in which pupils and staff feel valued, heard, safe, and able to thrive.
This toolkit is designed to be practical, flexible, and easy for schools to adapt. It can be used to introduce the Kindness FIRST campaign champion role, brief nominated staff or pupil champions, support senior leaders and pastoral teams, align activity with behaviour, wellbeing, inclusion, attendance, and personal development priorities, and provide ready-to-use tools for assemblies, tutor time, staff development, pupil voice, and school improvement activity.
Schools do not need to use every section at once. Some may begin with the leadership statement, champion role description, and a small number of practical activities for staff or pupils. Others may use the communication templates, school themes, and action plan to build a broader Kindness FIRST programme over time. The aim is to help schools start well, stay realistic, and turn Fairness, Integration, Respect, Safety, and Trust into visible everyday school practice.
